PURPOSE: Analysis of the intraocular pressure decrease caused by trabeculotomy in early primary congenital glaucoma. METHOD: A retrospective study of 28 patients (a total of 35 eyes) with early primary congenital glaucoma hospitalized, operated and followed up in the Bucharest Clinical Emergency Ophthalmology Hospital between January 2001 - March 2004. Trabeculotomy was performed as a first surgery. RESULTS: Therapeutic success (postsurgical intraocular pressure under 20 mmHg) was obtained in all of the 28 studied cases. CONCLUSIONS: Trabeculotomy is an efficient method as a first surgery in primary congenital glaucoma. LA: Romanian
