LEARNING OBJECTIVES: after reading this review article, the reader will be able to: - Name the different kinds of glaucomas and understand their pathogenesis. - Discuss the risk factors for acute closed angle glaucoma. - Recognize the clinical features of an acute episode of glaucoma. - Describe which medications are likely to cause increased intra-ocular pressure. - Recognize that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors have been implicated in the occurrence of closed angle glaucomas in susceptible individuals.
