Glaucoma clinicians have numerous medications from which to select initial therapy for their patients. What are the preferred characteristics for such a drug? Consider these two factors when evaluating glaucoma medications: 1) a drug should prove efficacious in preserving visual function (i.e., it works) and 2) the drug should be 'patient friendly' to ensure good compliance (i.e., patients will use it).
