Pilots in military aircrafts are influenced by different accelerations during aircraft manoeuvre. These accelerations cause also alterations of the intraocular pressure. Investigations of military pilots of German Air Force and of Austrian Air Force on a special tilting table and in a centrifuge for human beings show considerable alterations of intraocular pressure under special flying conditions. Different accelerations were simulated by means of tilting table and by means of centrifuge for persons. For the measurements of intraocular pressure was used the self-tonometer Ocuton-S. A considerable increase of intraocular pressure in comparison with the normal intraocular pressure was proved for negative accelerations -9.81 m/s2 (-1 · g = -9.81 m/s2 ). Often flying stress for military pilots under the influence of negative accelerations could cause viewing disturbtions and possibly pathological alterations of the pilot eyes. LA: German
