AIM: To evaluate the effect of phacoemulsification (phaco) combined with posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and peripheral iridectomy on patients of cataract with glaucoma. METHODS: Thirty-eight cases (39 eyes) with cataract and glaucoma underwent phacoemulsification with IOL and peripheral iridectomy. RESULTS: The average intraocular pressure (IOP) was lower than 20 mmHg, and the postoperative average visual acuity was higher than 0.3. Two eyes of secondary glaucoma and cataract were poorly controlled postoperatively. CONCLUSION: Phaco and IOL are effective for the cases of angle-closure glaucoma accompanied by cataract, with small-incision and few complications. LA: Chinese
