AIM: To compare the differences between non-contact (NCT) and Goldmann (GAT) tonometer in intraocular pressure (IOP) detection, so as to evaluate the assessment of the two measurements when used in glaucoma or glaucoma-like patients. METHODS: A total of 174 volunteers (348 eyes) were measured with both NCT and GAT separately. RESULTS: The NCT results were significantly lower than the GAT ones (19.6 vs 23.4, P < 0.05), and the correlation factor r = 0.783. Furthermore, there were great differences in the group with IOP > 30 mmHg (r = 0.334). CONCLUSION: NCT may be recommended to test the glaucoma-like population while GAT is applied to correct the clinical results in glaucoma patients. LA: Chinese
