AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of phacoemulsification with post erior chamber intraocular lens (PC-IOL) implantation in the management of angle-closure glaucoma. METHODS: Phacoemulsification and PC-IOL implantation was performed in 32 cases with primary angle-closure glaucoma. RESULTS: The postoperative follow-up was 6 to12 months. The visual acuity improved in all patients. The visual acuity ≥ 0.3 in 23 eyes (72%). Postoperative IOP was less than 21mmHg in 29 eyes without using any antiglauoma agents. CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification with PC-IOL i mplantation is an effective treatment for primary angle-closure glaucoma patients. LA: Chinese
