AIM: To evaluate the optic nerve head modifications and retinal nerve fiber loss in glaucoma patients by using Heidelberg Retina Tomograph - II (HRT-II) and to investigate the effect of HRT-II in the follow-up of glaucoma. METHODS: Fifty patients were included in the study for a total of 63 eyes with glaucoma. The images of the nerve head and never fiber layer were obtained by using HRT-II every 6 to 12 months. RESULTS: There were statistically significant changes in shape parameters (including rim area, rim volume, max cup depth, mean retinal nerve fibre layer thickness and cross sectional area, etc.) (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: HRT-II can provide rapid and reproducible measurements of optic disk topography and change of retinal nerve fiber layer, as well as a reproducible analysis of various optic disk parameters.
