PURPOSE: To report the effect of topical levobunolol on latanoprost nonresponders. CASES AND METHOD: Ten patients who failed to respond to latanoprost received instillation of levobunolol once a day. The series comprised one patient of primary open-angle glaucoma and 9 patients of normal-tension glaucoma. Their age ranged from 21 to 81 years, average 62 years. The eye with higher baseline intraocular pressure (IOP) was subjected to the study. RESULTS: Baseline IOP averaged 19.1 ± 5.0 mmHg. IOP averaged 16.2 ± 2.9 minHg after one month of switching, 15.8 ± 3.2 mmHg after 2 months, and 15.2 ± 4.1 mmHg after 3 months. Differences from baseline IOP were significant. Rate of IOP decrease from baseline value averaged 19.8 ± 10.0%. CONCLUSION: Levobunolol was effective in latanoprost nonresponders. LA: Japanese
