Glaucoma is a relatively common ocular disease among adults aged > 65 years. However, knowledge about glaucoma, the physical capacity to perform self-application of antiglaucomatous drops, and general compliance may be massively restricted in the older population owing to significantly increasing comorbidity and other factors (e.g., their social and financial situation). Additional efforts by ophthalmologists, the pharmaceutical industry and health politics are required to improve knowledge and compliance among elderly glaucoma patients. LA: German
