Ritch R
Ophthalmology Clinics of North America 2000; 13: 429-441

Rapidly increasing understanding of the origin of disease states on a molecular, genetic, and biochemical level is opening new doors for treatment options, if not eventual cures. This article provides an overview of tailoring treatment to the underlying mechanism in angle-closure glaucoma and describes present and future approaches toward understanding and dealing with the two most commonly identifiable open-angle glaucomas, pigment dispersion syndrome and exfoliation syndrome.
