The combined IOP and CCT measurement in glaucoma screening

Burvenich H; De Clercq J
Bulletin de la Société Belge d'Ophtalmologie 2000; 276: 15-18

In a prospective study, the authors measured the intraocular pressure (IOP), by means of a pneumotonometer, as well as the central corneal thickness (CCT) in 245 healthy emmetropic or ametropic eyes of patients in a private practice. There was a linear relation between IOP measurement and CCT. The same measurements were done in 30 glaucomatous eyes and in 16 eyes with ocular hypertension. The mean CCT was similar in normal and glaucomatous eyes (554 μm). In eyes with ocular hypertension an elevated CCT was manifested.
