The authors observed the chamber angle by inserting the tip of an endoscope into the anterior chamber after aspiration of residual cortex during phacoemusification-aspiration for cataract. Blood-filling of Schlemm's canal was present in all 20 eyes thus examined. They performed trabeculotomy ab externo in three eyes of two patients during simultaneous surgery for cataract and glaucoma under endoscopic observation. The intraocular pressure (IOP) was brought under control following a temporary IOP elevation in all eyes. This technique is advocated for its simplicity and effectiveness.LA: Japanese
