Abstract #15948 Published in IGR 2-3

Molecular genetics in the clinical practice of glaucoma

This article discusses recent advances in molecular genetics of glaucoma, as they pertain to the clinical practice. Over a dozen loci have been associated with various subtypes of glaucoma, ranging from congenital to pigmentary glaucoma. Six additional loci have been associated with primary open-angle glaucoma. Although these advances are significant and meaningful, genetic screening has not yet penetrated clinical practice.
