History and present situation of glaucomatous surgical treatment

From leeches in the early part of the 19th century to selective laser trabeculoplasty today, there is an unimaginable change in the methods in glaucomatous surgical treatment. Along with the scientific understanding for pathophysiology mechanism of glaucoma, safer and more effective surgical procedures were unceasingly designed and applied in clinical practice. In the present paper we looked back the history of glaucomatous surgical treatment and reviewed its developing way, which might revolutionize our understanding of glaucoma. LA: Chinese
