PURPOSE: To evaluate changes in retinal blood flow of posterior pole of the retina before and after hemodialysis. METHODS: The Heidelberg Retina Flowmeter (HRF) was used to measure blood flow in the posterior pole of the retina in three eyes of three patients before and after hemodialysis. Each image was analyzed by the automatic full-field analysis program and flow was calculated for each measurement. The authors calculated the ratio of flow after hemodialysis to flow before hemodialysis. RESULTS: The ratio of flow was 92% in case 1, 73% in case 2, and 71% in case 3. CONCLUSIONS: Blood flow in the posterior pole of the retina decreased after hemodialysis. LA: Japanese
