The authors research a correlation between disc changes and visual field defects in ocular hypertension and glaucoma. The method used is high-pass resolution perimetry (HRP), which represents a system for evaluating visual function in glaucoma. In particular, this method can give important information on the relationship between resolution threshold and ganglion cell density, based on assumption that over the retinal minimal angle of resolution and ganglion cell spacing are proportional. The authors found a correlation between rim/disc area (R/D) and neural capacity. LA: Italian
