Primary congenital glaucoma treatment is surgical based. Mitomicin C trabeculectomy has been used for primary and secondary treatment after failure of previous surgery. This work shows the ten-year retrospective experience in the authors' hospital. Simple trabeculectomy and sclerectomy procedures are compared. Pre- and postsurgical visual function, intraocular pressure, corneal diameter, and disc excavation were measured. Filtering bleb was also observed. Better intraocular pressure control was found in subjects with mitomicin C utililization than with other surgical procedures, and complications similar to those reported in the literature were found. Mitomicin C trabeculectomy is a safe technique, but a prospective trial is needed for better techniques, statistical understanding, and variable controls. LA: Spanish
