Cataract surgery has a moderate lowering effect on intraocular pressure. When glaucoma seems to be controlled by medication, phacoemulsification provides a chance of improving the situation. These eyes are the most likely to have a rise of intraocular pressure by retention of a visco-elastic substance. LA: French
