Trabeculectomy has been the surgical treatment of choice for uncontrolled glaucoma over the past several decades. In this paper, we outline our preferred technique which optimizes procedural efficiency, minimizes postoperative complications, and has long-term success in lowering patients' intraocular pressure. Particularly for trabeculectomy, astute management of intraoperative and postoperative complications can divert failure and create a successful outcome. We discuss our methodologies to handle difficulties during and after surgery.
