AIM: To evaluate the effect of phacoemulsfication combined with trabeculectomy in the treatment of glaucoma complicated with cataract. METHODS: Triple operation was performed through the upper sclera tunnel incision on 28 eyes of 26 cases with glaucoma complicated with cataract. RESULTS: During the follow-up of 3 months to 1 year, the 28 eyes showed various improvement in vision. As for the post-operative filtering bleb, type I and II functional filtering bleb accounted for 88% and type III filtering bleb 15%. Most of the operated eyes showed mild inflammation in their front chamber with deepened front chamber, except six eyes with fibrous exudates and hyphema disappearing after treatment. CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsfication combined with trabeculectomy is effective in treating glaucoma complicated with cataract. LA: Chinese
