AIM: To determine the common contraindications of LASIK surgery. METHODS: The reasons of not taking LASIK were analyzed in 476 patients (906 eyes). RESULTS: The LASIK surgery was not performed in 476 patients (906 eyes, 17.08%) who planned to undergo the surgery. In these 906 eyes, 298 eyes (32. 89%) had insufficient corneal thickness, 155 eyes (17.11%) had no ideal corrected visual acuity and 134 eyes (14.79%) had psychological fear. Other reasons included super high myopia, high intraocular pressure, keratoconus, ocular fundus diseases, corneal refractive power, corneal scar and chronic dacryocystitis. CONCLUSION: It is necessary to take complete and careful examinations on patients before LASIK surgery to ensure the safety of operation. LA: Chinese
