AIM: To evaluate the effect of compound trabeculectomy. METHODS: One hundred and twenty-eight patients (152 eyes) with glaucoma were performed compound trabeculectomy. The anterior chamber depth, filtering blebs, intraocular pressure were observed. The follow-up period ranged from 4 to 18 months. RESULTS: The incidence of shallow anerior chamber was 9 eyes (5.9%), 142 eyes (93.4%) maintained functional blebs. The operative success rate was 89.5% (IOP ≤ 20.6 mmHg with or without medications). None of 152 operated eyes had leaking blebs or intraocular infection. CONCLUSION: The compound trabeculectomy adjusted the amount of aqueous humor out-flowing, decreased postoperative complications and elevated the rate of surgical success. LA: Chinese
