The radiation energy of light launched by semiconductor laser is conducted by ocular region's medium. The tissues absorb the light energy and transform it into heat energy, causing the rise of local temperature and the protein denaturation. Cells are destroyed and tissues are coagulated. Since semiconductor laser is easy to use, it is used increasingly widespread in ophthalmology department. Semiconductor laser is used to treat eye diseases including those on ocular anterior and posterior segments, glaucoma and eyeground. It is also used in refractive diseases. This article summarized the application and prospects of semiconductor laser in the ophthalmology clinics. LA: Chinese
