AIM: To observe the clinical effects of SKGEL, amnion and sclera of NPTS operation for primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). METHODS: Eighty-four cases (93 eyes) with POAG, who were not well controlled by drugs, were parallelly, randomly and comparably divided into control group (27 cases, 31 eyes), amnion group (28 cases, 32 eyes), and sclera group (29 cases, 30 eyes). SKGEL, amnion and sclera were implanted, respectively, during undergoing the same operation process to these 3 groups. RESULTS: There were no significant differences among the 3 groups on visual acuity, intraocular pressure, filtrative bleb and complications (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: SKGEL, amnion and sclera all can be NPTS materials. But for their facility and low cost, amnion and sclera might be more suitable for NPTS implantation. They have application value.
