AIM: To analyze the factors of the postoperative neovascular glaucoma (NVG) of proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) patients. METHODS: The postoperative NVG was analyzed in 9 PDR patients (11 eyes) after vitrectomy. RESULTS: Of 11 eyes, 7 eyes of lens-surgery were without postenor capsule (PC) or with ruptured PC, 2 eyes preexisted NVI, 1 eye with postoperative retinal detachment. None of the eyes had been treated by further photocoagulation (PRP) and fundus fluorescein angiography before occurring NVG. CONCLUSION: The factors like vitrectomy combined with lens-surgery, vitreous tamponade, the effect of PRP, postoperative retinal detachment, preexisted NVI, etc., all can influence the occurrence of NVG.
