AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation for eyes with neovascular glaucoma. METHODS: Fifty-two eyes with neovascular glaucoma underwent transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation with energy of 1500-3000mW applied for 2000 ms. The therapeutic point was from 24 to 32. The patients were followed one year. RESULTS: The mean pretreatment intraocular pressure (IOP) was 57.78 ± 6.46 mmHg. On the third day after laser treatment, the JOP was 30.8 ± 5.41 mmHg (P< 0.05). A year later, the IOP was 19.44 ± 4.38 mmHg (P < 0.05). In all patients the pain relieved. CONCLUSION: Diode laser contact transscleral cyclophotocoagulation is a safe and effective therapeutic method to neovascular glaucoma. LA: Chinese
