AIM: To research the prevention effect of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) on inflammatory response after glaucoma with cataract combined with introcular lens implantation (triplex operations). METHODS: Fifty-two glaucoma cases combined with cataract were randomly divided into 2 groups and were treated with medicine blindly. During triplex operations, control group was given 9g/L NaCl injection and LMWH group received 9g/L NaCl injection adding low molecular weight heparin calcium injection 5U/mL. Postoperative day 2, 4 and 7, the condition of intraocular fibrin exudation, membrane formation and acqueous opacity were observed. RESULTS: On day 2, 4 and 7 after surgery, the degree of intraocular fibrin exudation, membrane formation and acqueous opacity in LMWH group was lighter then that in control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: LMWH can effectively inhibit inflammatory response in eyes after triplex operations. LA: Chinese
