AIM: To investigate the effect of small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract surgery combined with trabeculectomy. METHODS: Totally 46 patients (46 eyes) were observed. The patients included cataract complicated acute close-angle glaucoma (13 cases), chronic close-angle glaucoma (11 cases) and primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) (12 cases), intumescent cataract inducing glaucoma (10 cases). Cataract extrcation with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation by small incision were performed, and trabecular and root of iris were incised in tunnel. RESULTS: Vision acuity of all cases improved at different degrees, and intraocular pressure (IOP) was completely controlled. CONCLUSION: Small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract surgery combined with trabeculectomy is an effective way and worth expanding at basic level hospitals. LA: Chinese
