Current study on diurnal fluctuation of intraocular pressure

Researches found that human intraocular pressure(IOP) reading is varying at different time points of one day. Many researches indicate that fluctuation statues of IOP can influent the evaluation, monitoring of IOP in healthy or various types of glaucomous population as well as managing regimen even treating outcome in the eyes with glaucoma. Recently, with the development of different types of tonometers, it is possible to better comprehent the fluctuation statues of IOP and the influence of IOP fluctuation on glaucomatous eyes. This article aims to review recent researches and research trends of the diurnal IOP fluctuation in healthy eyes, myopic eyes, glaucoma suspects and different types of glaucomatous eyes including normal IOP glaucoma, primary open-angle glaucoma, exfoliation glaucoma, chronic angle-closure glaucoma.
