AIM: To study the reason and treatment of secondary glaucoma with ocular trauma. METHODS: One hundred patients (one hundred eyes) with secondary glaucoma caused by ocular trauma were studied and the clinical situation and the treatment were analyzed. RESULTS: Secondary glaucoma with ocular trauma could be caused by a variety of reasons which might be classified as four main reasons according to the data, such as intraocular hemorrhage, angle of anterior chamber contusion, lens-derived and inflammation conglutination and proliferation. Twenty-five eyes were treated by drugs simply, and seventy-five eyes were treated by drugs and operations (anterior chamber irrigation, cataract extraction, vitrectomy, trabeculectomy and combined surgery). After treatment, all the patients were followed-up for 2-12 months. The intraocular pressure (IOP) of 82 eyes (82%) were normal (6-21mmHg) (1mmHg = 0.133kPa). The IOP of 14 eyes (14%) were more than 21 mmHg. The IOP of 4 eyes(4%) were less than 6mmHg. CONCLUSION: The causes of secondary glaucoma with ocular trauma were complex. The pathogeny should be treated in time. LA: Chinese
