Observation of ocular hypertension in thirty-two patients

AIM: To observe and discuss the contributory factors of ocular hypertension, the clinical signs for follow up and the development of it. METHODS: Thirty-two cases with ocular hypertension were observed for intraocular pressure, vision field, optic disk and fibre of optic nerve. These cases were followed up for 2 to 10 years (mean 5 years). RESULTS: During the term of follow-up, the intraocular pressure of the 29 cases did not change, The intraocular pressure in 2 cases went down, 1 case increased, the vision field of 5 cases changed. CONCLUSION: Many factors may contribute to ocular hypertension, the patients must be observed frequently, In case of suspected glaucoma changes, anti-glaucoma treatment should be actively pursued.
