The review analyzes the implication of ischemia in the pathogenesis of primary open-angle glaucoma. It gives the opinions of leading Russian and foreign specialists who deal with this problem. The basic studies of the morphology of the optic nerve head and its circulatory system are assessed. The specific features of the structure of the orbital arterial system based on the types of ocular arterial branching via formation of intraocular circulation are compared. LA: Russian
