OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in the optic nerve after injury. METHODS: A crushed intraorbital optic nerve rat model was used to determine the expression of bFGF by immunohistochemistry at days 1, 3, 7, and 14 after injury, the immunohistochemistry staining was analyzed by automatic image analysis technology. RESULTS: The expression of bFGF after optic nerve injury was obviously higher than the expression in the control groups (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Optic nerve injury alters the expression of bFGF in the optic nerve. bFGF is good for the recovery after optic nerve injury. LA: Chinese
