OBJECTIVE: Using a scanning laser-Doppler flowmetry Heidelberg retinal flowmeter (HRF), the authors studied the changes in optic disc blood flow after trabeculectomy. METHODS: In 15 eyes of 15 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma, the mean HRF blood flow parameters at the disc rim was measured preoperatively and at one week after trabeculectomy. RESULTS: The authors found a statistically significant decrease of intraocular pressure and an increase of mean blood flow after trabeculetomy, and found positive correlations between the increased mean blood flow and decreased intraocular pressure, but there was no statistical significance. CONCLUSION: Trabeculectomy is an effective means for primary open-angle glaucoma. LA: Chinese
