The authors evaluated the additive effect of topical nipradilol on 15 eyes with normal-tension glaucoma treated by prostaglandin only. In eight eyes, the intraocular pressure (IOP) averaged 16.3 mmHg before unoprostone, 15.0 mmHg (p = 0.259) after unoprostone, and decreased significantly to 13.3 mmHg (p = 0.011) 24 weeks after the start of nipradilol twice daily. In another group of seven eyes, IOP averaged 17.6 mmHg before latanoprost, decreased to 15.4 mmHg (p = 0.002) after latanoprost, and to 13.7 mmHg (p = 0.011) 24 weeks after the start of nipradilol. These findings show that topical nipradilol is effective in normal-tension glaucoma when added to unoprostone or latanoprost. LA: Japanese
