Abstract #5411 Published in IGR 1-2

Dorzolamide-timolol combination versus concomitant administration of its components (letter)

Odberg T
Ophthalmology 1999; 106: 1044-1045

The corresponding author feels that the conclusion that the combination is as effective as their components is not correct. He feels that the timing of the dosage regimen in the two types of treatment was not similar. This author feels that to support their conclusion the original authors would have to show that the evening trough IOP in the twice daily regimen is comparable to the evening trough in the three times daily regimen. This author doubts that this is the case. The original authors disagree with the corresponding author's conclusion. They come up with reasons of course why this is the case. They feel that their data show that the IOP control provided by twice daily dosing of dorzolamide/timolol combination did indeed extend over 24 hours.
