This author has devised an instrument for ocular massage. He favors focal digital pressure on each side of the bleb area through the upper eyelid. There is also the basis of the functioning of his instrument. He feels that massage by the patient himself may often be a problem. The device consists of two small pistons with slightly rounded tips made of nylon. These tips provide an alternating pressure of about 40-45 g. This pressure is applied through the eyelid to the upper part of the eye. The device was tried on 50 eyes of 50 consecutive glaucoma patients and the authors report satisfactory results. The compliance of patients to the procedure was good. This is an interesting idea.
