The authors observed three cases of glaucomatocyclitis crisis. All were males, aged 35, 42 and 51 years respectively. All were unilaterally affected. The disease had been present for 15, three and six years, respectively. All the cases were initially treated by conventional medications. Trabeculectomy with adjunct use of mitomycin C had to be performed due to persistent elevation of intraocular pressure (IOL) in three eyes and retinal nerve fiber and visual field defect in two eyes. IOL control was achieved in all the eyes after surgery. The frequency of attacks also decreased. These cases illustrate that there are recalcitrant cases in this syndrome and that filtering surgery may be necessary to induce IOP control. LA: Japanese
