The influence of nitric synthase inhibitor (L-NAME) on the intraocular pressure in endotoxin induced uveitis in rats

The authors studied the influence of the nitric synthase inhibitor (L-NAME) on the induction of uveitis in Wistar rats. The inflammation was induced by a footpad injection of endotoxin in the rats. The clinical signs were evaluated with a slit-lamp, the intraocular pressure (IOP) was measured using a TonoPen tonometer. The authors showed that, in endotoxin-induced uveitis, IOP elevation was observed and that L-NAME application reduced the inflammation and the level of the IOP. LA: Polish
