The topical use of timolol eye drops in the management of glaucoma is associated with various systemic side-effects, including alteration of lipid profile with an increase in cardiovascular risk factors. Changeover to timolol gel altered results in normalization of altered lipid profile with a decrease in cardiovascular risk factors. The decrease seen is attributable to lack of systemic absorption of timolol gel.
