Presently, trabeculectomy is widely used for congenital glaucoma in children. After examining 92 children, the authors established that the efficacy of surgical treatment was, on average, confirmed in 98.7% of cases during the early observation period, and in 89.8% of cases during the late observation period (one to five years). Complications occurred in 12% of eyes during the early and late postoperative periods. The complications observed during the early postoperative period were not the cause for relapses of elevated intraocular pressure. Excessive cicatrization in the surgical intervention zone was the most prevalent cause for the instability of the achieved treatment results in the late period.LA: Russian
