Within risk factors of glaucoma, vascular risk factors are actually well demonstrated. Blood pressure and ocular perfusion pressure variations, in relation to vascular dysregulation, play a major role in the pathogenesis of glaucomatous neuropathy. In clinical practice, treated and non controlled hypertension, cardiovascular disease and low ocular diastolic perfusion pressure, are vascular risk factors that should be constantly detected in the management of glaucoma.
