OBJECTIVE: To investigate relevant factors and treatment methods for secondary glaucoma after silicone oil filling. RESULTS: Forty-eight eyes with secondary glaucoma was analyzed in 228 eyes after surgery 1 wk ~ 12 mo. There were 20.7% incidences. Secondary glaucoma was always caused by occlusion of silicone oil on angle of chamber leads to the angle - closure glaucoma and lesion of trabecular meshwork's strain function leads to open angle glaucoma. The longer the time of persisting in eyes is, the higher the incidence of secondary glaucoma will be. It can be seen that the incidence rate of secondary glaucoma. There were 32 eyes recover normal among them. 13 eyes control common range by eye drop but the intraocular pressure of 3 eyes recover common by operation. CONCLUSION: A high incidence of secondary glaucoma can be show after the silicone oil filling but it can give satisfactory result by effective treatment. LA: Chinese
