Systemic corticosteroids are commonly used in the treatment of a variety of ailments; however, such therapy is associated with numerous potential adverse events, many of which are not well understood and often poorly treated. A better understanding of the mechanisms of corticosteroid-induced adverse events and the frequency with which these events occur will assist physicians in the prevention and management of these condition.
