AIM: To analyze the causes and treatment of shallow anterior chamber after glaucoma trabeculectomy. METHODS: Sixty-nine patients (81 eyes) with glaucoma underwent trabeculectomy were reviewed on the causes and treatment of postoperative shallow anterior chamber. RESULTS: The incidence of shallow anterior chamber was in 25 eyes (31%). The causes were excessive aqueous humor filtration (36%, 9 eyes), choroidal detachment (32%, 8 eyes), filter bleb leaks (20%, 5 eyes), malignant glaucoma (12%, 3 eyes). Four eyes needed surgical procedure for the reformation of anterior or chamber. Anterior chamber reformed in other 21 eyes without any surgical procedure. CONCLUSION: The incidence of shallow anterior chamber is high after trabeculetomy. Most of the shallow anterior chamber can be reformed through conservation treatment. LA: Chinese
