AIM: To explore the treating effects of secondary glaucoma following uveitis. METHODS: Thirty-six patients with secondary glaucoma following uveitis were studied retrospectively in our hospital from January 1999 to December 2005. RESULTS: Of 36 patients (42 eyes), 28 cases were with anterior uveitis, 7 cases with pan-uveitis and 1 case with Fuchs syndrome. Twelve cases (2 cases were undergone trabeculectomy after 5 months of IOP out of control) were treated without surgery and 24 cases were treated by operation. IOP was under control in 34 eyes of 36 patients. CONCLUSION: The effects of non-surgery are obvious under the conditions of treatment of the first time, or in time when IOP was high again, and when iris synechiae is quickly disappearing. Trabeculectomy or Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation is effective for secondary glaucoma following uveitis, and uveitis should be under control carefully. LA: Chinese
