AIM: To evaluate the clinical significance of ocular ischemia disease on predicted the happening of carotid stenosis. METHODS: Seventy patients who got ischemia disease were selected, and examined by carotid color Doppler. The results were studied statistically. RESULTS: The exist of carotid stenosis was significant higher in the patients with central (branch) retinal artery occlusion, ophthalmoparalysis, ocular ischemic syndrome, neovascular glaucoma (P<0.05). But it didn't happen in the patients with ischemic optic neuropathy. CONCLUSION: Among the ocular ischemic diseases, central (branch) retinal artery occlusion, ophthalmoparalysis, ocular ischemic syndrome, and neovascular glaucoma can predict the exist of carotid stenosis, but ischemic optic neuropathy can not.
