This study was conducted from February to August 2007 in the visual deficient association called Associao Aliana, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Written informed consent was obtained from all participants before their enrollment in the study. It was qualitative study in exploratory level. Survey data were collected through recorded interviews from thirty male participants aged between 18 to 89 years. The interviews followed a subject route previously established. The difficulty of administration of some pharmaceutical forms was one of the principal drug-related problems (DRPs) found in this group. Strategies were defined to development of the Pharmaceutical Care to this group as follow: evaluation of the needs, expectations and priorities of the visual deficient; efficient communication to create trust and friendship; counseling and educational and motivational health programs including visual deficients and their family; action of multidisciplinary team with humanistic vision.
