Ocular hypertension measured with non-contact tonometer in physical examination

AIM: To find out the ocular hypertension patients who will be treated by non-contact tonometer in a physical examination. METHODS: The one whose intraocular pressure (IOP) is higher than 21mmHg or the difference between two eyes is higher than 8mmHg will be followed up. Undertake IOP examination by means of non-contact tonometer at the same hour of three continuous days and ophthalmological examination. RESULTS: A total of 3110 participants was measured by means of non-contact tonometer with ocular hypertension (359 eyes), glaucoma (60 eyes), and normal eyes (5751 eyes). CONCLUSION: Non-contact tonometer can be considered as a valuable screening device and can be used routinely for measuring IOP in all patients. LA: Chinese
